From Couch Potato To Fitness Fanatic – Yes We’re Talking About You!

If you consider yourself a bit of a couch potato, you may dream of one day becoming a fitness fanatic. Somebody who could out-squat The Rock AKA Dwayne Johnson and go toe to toe with Wolverine (Hugh Jackman). The only problem with true couch potatoes, is that, the day never comes. ‘One day’ is always one day in the future. It definitely isn’t tomorrow, or even the day after tomorrow. In order to make a real change, you have to really want it. If you want to become the fittest, best version of yourself, use the following tips:

Set Both Short And Long Term Goals

The first key is setting yourself both short and long term goals. Having the goal of looking like The Rock or whoever is great, but if you’re currently out of shape, that’s going to take a while. You may get demotivated in a few weeks or months time when you’ve been hitting the gym 5 times a week and you STILL don’t look like The Rock . These things take time, and chances are, your goals will change often. This is why it only makes sense to have short term goals too. Maybe you want to improve form on a certain exercise, do 10 full pull ups, or something else. Think up your own goals and keep them in mind when working out so you stay motivated.

Get Involved In Something With Others

Sometimes, it’s easier for you to get off the couch when you’re getting involved in something with others. Football is a great sport, as the sense of belonging you can get from joining a team is amazing! Before you know it, you’ll be itching to play your next game, reading Lol football with a smile on your face, wearing your kit around the house for fun. Get a few friends who enjoy the sport you want to try and go together. There’s football, squash, badminton, tennis, and so many more that can help you to get out of the house and developing a basic level of fitness.

Remember It’s Discipline, Not Motivation

So many people complain about not having the ‘motivation’ to get off the couch and go to the gym. Well, news flash, it isn’t about motivation! You think The Rock feels motivated every single day? You think all of the athletes you admire feel motivated all the time? No, they don’t. They are simply disciplined . They know that they must train in order to get to the level they want to be at, and that’s what they do.

Getting off the couch in the first place is the hardest part. Once you’ve done that, and you do it a few more times, you’re on your way to building an incredible habit. Doing it even when you don’t feel like it is when the magic happens!

Have More Than One Strong Reason

Don’t just do it to get ripped or have abs. Do it because it makes you feel good. Do it because you’ll live longer . There are so many reasons to get off the couch!

Track Your Progress

Finally, make sure you track your progress. Take pictures and measurements each week. Monitor the weights you’re using, and anything else that will give you a good picture of your progress. It’s addictive!
